This week in Greenland - Part 5: Experience the fragile beauty of an ancient landscape in northeast Greenland.   • The moon over northeast Greenland and typical arctic fog banks seen from the NASA P-3 research aircraft while descending into the survery area over sea ice north of the Fram Strait.
  • A chilly day with blowing snow at Thule, Greenland in early March.
  • Brooks Range, Alaska seen during a flight that crossed the Arctic Ocean from Thule, Greenland to Fairbanks.
  • The eastern side of the Brooks Range in Canada's Yukon territory seen during this morning's descent into the survey area over sea ice in the eastern Beaufort Sea. The seemingly endless number of mountain peaks provides a sense of the vastness of the Arctic environment.
  • Ice wall of the Store Landgletscher, also known as Great Land Glacier, near Camp Tuto at Thule, Greenland.
  • The Alaska Range in the evening sun seen from Fairbanks on a clear day.
  • Eureka Sound on Ellesmere Island in the Canadian Arctic seen on today's flight. We teamed up with Canadian scientists on the ground supported through an agreement between the Canadian Space Agency and NASA. The scientists on the ground did ground-based snow depth measurements along twelve 70-km-long profiles while we were flying overhead and collecting snow depth measurements from the air. A great collaborative effort.
